The circle of it: This company is creating a marketplace for produce that connects commercial produce buyers to farms, thereby reducing inefficiencies associated with surplus and imperfect produce.

Summary
Full Harvest is a B2B marketplace for produce that connects farms with food buyers. According to their website, 2.5 billion tons of food goes uneaten around the world each year. By creating an online marketplace, farmers are given an additional source of revenue especially in the case of surplus and imperfect produce which is typically wasted because of the strict standards set for produce by most commercial buyers. Full Harvest’s vision is three-fold: to bring an additional revenue stream to farmers, to lower the cost of healthy food production, while significantly reducing wasted food and resources. (Source)
Story
The company was founded by Christine Moseley who was frustrated seeing the high cost of product when scaling one of the first cold-pressed juice companies, Organic Avenue, where juices ended up costing over $13. She learned that the high price point was due to purchasing expensive perfect-looking produce to then just immediately process it. In 2014, she moved to California to find a way to create a more sustainable, efficient produce supply chain leveraging technology by creating this B2B marketplace centered around excess and imperfect produce.

“Agriculture is necessary for humans to thrive, and working in this sector is incredibly rewarding because it allows me to make a tangible difference in the world. I am particularly drawn to the potential for innovation within agriculture — addressing inefficiencies, reducing waste and creating sustainable practices that benefit both farmers and consumers.”
