The circle of it: This company offers a subscription service for kid’s bikes that can be exchanged for new ones as they outgrow their current ones, thereby encouraging reuse through a leasing model.

Summary
Bike Club offers a seamless platform that offers a leasing/subscription model for kid’s bikes. Since kids outgrow their bikes every few years, or sometimes even every few months, buying new bikes is resource intensive and expensive. Also, parents are often unable to sell their existing bikes at a fair price because resale is often difficult and the item tends to lose value. The subscription model makes it easy for bikes to be exchanged for no additional cost as long as it’s been rented out for at least 18 months. “Pre-loved” bikes that are exchanged are refurbished before they are rented out to a new family.
Story
Co -founders Alexandra Rico-Lloyd and James Symes were both keen cyclists and realized that a circular subscription-style model would work best for kid’s bikes. They understood the pain points for many families of constantly buying and selling bikes. The company started by renting bikes to friends and family, and the experimented with different business models. They have since expanded the business and now employ over 70 staff members. (Source)

“A lot of where we’re at today is not because we’re fantastic of business, it’s because we listen to our members and actually, our members in a way new, new new what product the world needed. We didn’t define that and say, This is what we’re going to go out with. And we’re going to go big, and we just started small and humble and listened, listen to feedback as we went along.”
