FUWA BIOTECH

The circle of it: This company makes natural cleaning products by fermenting discarded pineapple skins leftover from pineapple harvest.

Summary

Fuwa creates enzyme-based cleaning products made from fermented pineapple skins. Synthetic cleaners and sprays are filled with chemicals and even microplastics that are said to be linked not only to environmental pollution but also to a rising number of health conditions. Fuwa makes a natural solution that uses only natural ingredients like pineapples, water and sugar. The company purchases fruit waste from nearby corporations that product canned pineapple. The company cleans them, mixes them with sugar and water and allows them to ferment. The fermentation process creates so many enzymes and acids that the mixture can be used as a potent cleaner. The solid waste from this process is sent off to local farms to be used as fertilizer. (Source)

Story

Fuwa was founded by husband and wife co-founders Le Duy Hoang and Bui Thi Bich Ngoc who founded the company after realizing that Bui’s eczema was partially caused by synthetic cleaning products. The company’s name means “Fruit Warrior” in Vietnamese. The proprietary formula was created by Rosukon Poompanvong, a scientist and Buddhist nun.
