Summary

Many Moons is a circular fashion platform that encourages parents to rent, buy used clothes and return their purchases back to the brand in order to keep the maximum number of wearable clothing in rotation for the longest amount of time. The company has circularity built into its core and its services are designed with reuse, leasing and takeback in mind. Once the clothing is returned, the clothing is evaluated to determine whether it can be rented out/sold again, or else if the item needs to be recycled or composted. The company tries to keep clothing in circulation for as long as possible to avoid clothing ending up in landfills. The company is committed to ethical sourcing, reuse, and regenerative disposal techniques and is attempting to demonstrate how waste can be removed from the supply chain, while offering parents an alternative to traditional ownership. (Source) The company emphasizes mono-materials like cotton so that clothes can be more easily recycled or composted at end of life.

Story

Founders Carolyn Butler and Rich Amsinger met in Columbia Business School, and got married and had their first child soon after. They found themselves buried in outgrown baby clothing and conceived the idea for Many Moons soon after.
